The HLPF is one of the key United Nations events on sustainable development. The theme of 2018 is: "Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies".

The HLPF is one of the key United Nations events on sustainable development. The theme of 2018 is: "Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies". The HLPF will also review progress towards the SDGS and focus in particular on ‘Clean water and sanitation’, ‘Affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy’, ‘Sustainable cities’, ‘Responsible sustainable consumption and production’, ‘Terrestrial ecosystems’, ‘Partnership for Sustainable Development’. The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development provides business with an opportunity to exchange their experience and results in achieving the SDGs, take part in an international dialogues on sustainable development, find paths of cooperation with other stakeholders, including the UN representatives, governments, scientific community. The UN Global Compact invites business representatives to take part in the Forum events, in which the best business cases and partenrships,indicating business contribution into achieving the SDGs will be presented.
