Founded in 1872, Pirelli is among the main tyre makers globally with focus on premium and ultra-premium tyres production. Presented in 160 countries, today it has 19 production facilities located on four continents and it counts about 38,000 employees. Pirelli has a great commitment to research and development, an area in which it invests 3% of its total revenues and 7% of its top-of-the-range revenues, one of the highest levels in the sector, with the goal of constantly improving its products in terms of performance, safety and reduction of environmental impact, in line with its 'green performance' strategy. In pursuing its goals, Pirelli aims to combine economic profitability and social responsibility. In line with its more than 145 years tradition, Pirelli continues investing in the international expansion projects at the same time maintaining strong local roots in the communities where it operates. Since 2011Pirelli is a unique F1 official supplier.
For Pirelli Russia is a strategically important market. Having a commercial presence on the Russian market, Pirelli achieved the goal of obtaining production sites in Russia by signing agreements for the transfer from Sibur Holding to a Pirelli and Rostec Joint Venture of the Kirov plant in December, 2011 and the Voronezh plant in February, 2012. Production processes of both plants have undergone technological upgrades, logistics, quality control and organization processes have been reviewed in order to ensure that the production is aligned with the highest Pirelli standards. Pirelli total investment in Russia stands at over 460 million euro: 222 million spent on the acquisition of the two plants by the joint venture and 260 million euro has been forwarded to their modernization.
