Discussion session, Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum

10:00, Krasnoyarsk, IEBC «Siberia»

Organized by Russian Local Network of the United Nations Global Compact and United Nations Association of Russia

Sustainable development concept is a new paradigm of human development. Necessity of integrating its values into systems of socio-economic models at all levels and into daily life worldwide is admitted by an international community and national governments of most modern states.

Sustainable development is nowadays understood as a process of changes, in which there are no controversies between its economic, social and environmental components, and scales of resources use, capital investment directions, technical development orientation and institutional changes are in line with current and upcoming human needs.

Russia is taking an active part in the development of new approaches to resources and risks management in the sustainable development context; simultaneously, Russia is consistently developing its national strategy embracing the social justice, economic efficiency and environmental safety objectives.

Full and deep participation of Russia in the global processes of sustainable development is essential for the development of Russian economy. The involvement of Russian businesses into global initiatives and activity of international organizations is necessary for the implementation of high international standards of sustainable development into business practice, broadening the opportunities for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

What are the main opportunities and potential for global business cooperation for sustainable development provided by the UN platforms? What are the advantages of implementing the said issues into the regional agenda?
