2020 is the year of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. In honor of this, the UN announced the launch of the UN75 initiative, the largest, broadest discussion on the role of international cooperation in building a better future for all. As part of this initiative, throughout the year 2020, the United Nations is conducting dialogues around the world. In the course of analyzing the real state of affairs in the world, for the first time, thanks to four innovative data collection channels, a package of solutions for the main global problems will be developed through crowdsourcing. Russia supports this discussion, as well as the celebration of the 75th anniversary, having approved a system of events and projects. Among them is a photochronicle project of the national network of the UN GC Network Russia in partnership with TASS and the UN Information Center in Moscow. The project manager is M. Gusman, First Deputy General Director of TASS.
In 2020, the national network of the UN Global Compact launches a new format for a partnership all-Russian study on the topic of “business and human rights” with the involvement of experts in each of the areas (company survey, legal examination, expert and analytical comments). This is the first all-Russian study on the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles of Entrepreneurship in the aspect of human rights in the strategies and practices of Russian companies.
Unprecedented, unprecedented, rare, global, affecting everyone on the planet and changing the future - the crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic has become the main challenge for everyone, without exception. And one way or another, everyone responds to it: every person, all governments, the world private sector. The UN Global Compact accumulates opportunities to support responsible corporate action in response to a pandemic, offering businesses different tools to help collectively reflect on the magnitude of change and its consequences.
The round table devoted to this topic was held on March 13 at the Public Parliament Center of Moscow at the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Moscow and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, together with the Regional Forum for the Development of the Moscow Women’s Women’s Movement and with the support of the national network of UN GC Network Russia.
